Can I afford it?

Six quick taps. Get an honest verdict, see the price in hours of your working life, and turn it into a save-up plan with a 30-day reminder.

How the verdict works

There’s no secret formula, just the questions a careful friend would ask: how big is it compared with your pay, do you have a safety cushion, how would you pay, is it a need or a fresh want, and are you carrying card debt? Each answer nudges the meter toward green or red, and the “Why” list shows you exactly what moved it.

The 30-day rule

For anything that isn’t urgent, wait 30 days. If you still want it, and you’ve set the money aside, buy it with a clear conscience. Most impulse wants fade in that time. Our reminder button saves a calendar file so you don’t have to remember.

Price in hours of work

Seeing a price as hours of your working life is a surprisingly good gut-check. We divide your monthly take-home pay by a standard 40-hour week to get an after-tax hourly figure.

Questions people ask

Is this financial advice?

No. It's a quick, educational gut-check based on your answers. Only you know your full situation.

What does the card interest estimate assume?

A 24% APR and a fixed monthly payment of about 4% of the price (at least $25). Your card's actual rate and terms may differ.

Is my pay stored anywhere?
